Enchanted Heart by Mindy Ruiz had me enchanted from the beginning. The book was interesting from the very first page. The book reminds me of Percy Jackson & The Olympians if I could name a book or movie to compare it to. The book surrounds Cassandra Vera the adopted daughter of filmmakers sneaking off from her residence in Malibu, CA, to bring in the New Years and her birthday with her best friend Malory who recently moved to Las Vegas, which she always vowed to her parents that she would never go to. Going to Las Vegas triggers a number of events for Cassandra. First everything starts out smooth with her best friend hooking her up with one of the hottest guys in school A.J. and getting into one of the trendiest clubs in Las Vegas to celebrate the weekend. And that's when everything goes south, A.J. and Cassandra hit the club hand in hand and then there's chaos, from the beginning the book is action packed, A.J. has to save Cassandra from being kidnapped, and that's when Cassandra's world goes from normal to unbelievable. Cassandra is actually royalty, but also an enigma because she was never supposed to exist. This world involves Greek Gods, curses, a House of Cards, and another house ruled by the ancient King Midas, you know the King with the golden touch, who is immortal and also wants Cassandra dead, and to add on to the dramatics her new hot crush happens to be none other than King Midas's grandson. When she is saved by A.J. he brings her to his family's home and there are her parents waiting for her, and there she learns and meets her birth mother and a treaty that she has broken just by coming to the state. Once Cassandra learns of this information she grabs onto her parents trying to leave as fast as she can only to face devastating consequences. Cassandra ends up living in Las Vegas with her birth mother as her guardian, and has to accustom to life there and prove that her life is worth sparing. In this book A.J. is like her guardian, vowing to protect her even though his immediate order when he saw her was to kill her. The love that A.J. has for Cassandra is insurmountable, and that love actually saves her. This book is a action packed drama based in the all the glory and lights of Las Vegas, NV. It's brilliantly written, from the characters, main and supporting to the back drop of it all. I can't wait until the sequel comes out in February and how overall this story will play out, there are so many questions that need to be answered, who is her father, why is she such an enigma, what does the curse entail. I am really looking forward to seeing this in the movies and knowing that this would be just as successful as the Percy Jackson series, but with a more mature twist. Talk about Excited!!!!!! That's me, cannot wait until Mindy Ruiz's story takes flight onto the big screen.
This is certainly a good book. In fact, it is excellent.
not only the story, but the title of the book is really marvellous. The title is anough to enchant any reader.
