Book Review for Cyn Balog's Dead River"

Someone asks "What do you think?" I don't think I have the words for how much I adore this book!! It's not even an exaggeration, I lost probably a whole night's worth of sleep on this gem smile emoticon totally worth it. Why?
1. I love all things paranormal and I do not get "scared" when reading anything (except my very first book by Stephen King.) But this book gave me a few scares in a great way!
2. Characters- Ki is an amazing character. I was with her every step of the way through her journey! I was worried at first…oh no, a girl sneaking off to see her friends, not that original. Balog proved me wrong. These were some of the best characters in a book I've read as far as how Balog developed them, it's hard to explain until you start reading.
3. The setting was beautifully eery and I was intrigued, a little frightened, and captivated. I give Balog a hand in her beautiful writing, if she not had the talent this could have easily turned into a "typical' setting. She created something new here.
4. I give it five stars because my only complaint was it wasn't longer, I wasn't ready for it to end but that's not the author's fault, in fact, that's an amazing quality for an author to have!
Trying to find a book that will scare you a little but isn't necessarily horror. A mess of a mystery, beautifully imperfect and won't ever be forgotten. This goes at the top of my shelf.
