I appreciate the comments, but is this review allowed? I mean, it seems a bit unfair that other members, especially reviewers, are not permitted to have their books on the forums without going through the official review process. Why should it be allowed for me?

You bought the book on your own and didn't got it directly from the author, right? Anyone can submit a review of a book they have read as long as they aren't the author or his friend.
