Pretty Little Liars Series by Sara Shepard

Post by jlf0028 »

I have been a fan of the Pretty Little Liar TV series from the very beginning, and I have always had on my bucket list to read the book series by Sara Shepard. After reading all 18 books, I would give the overall series a 4.5 out of 5.

While I was reading I noticed myself comparing the books to the series, which I know as it always the books are always better than the show. Though, as the stories of Hanna, Aria, Spencer, and Emily unfolded in the pages, I saw myself nodding my head to some scenes as I remembered from the show, then I was holding my breath as I read new exciting concepts of the story was never explored in the show.

A main pro I enjoyed while reading each book is Sara Shepard told each characters separate story, but was able to intertwine everyone story into one. Also, if a person does not want to read all 18 books, or is not able to read them in order you do not have too. When reading, you will never be loss because Sara Shepard does an excellent job giving us the background information we need to know what is going on.

The con that I did not enjoy with the series is the one book Pretty Little Secrets. It is book number 4.5 in the series and it does not follow the story line. Though bits and pieces are mention in other books, it is not relevant to the storyline. Pretty Little Secrets is four short stories of what Hanna, Aria, Spencer, and Emily did during Christmas break.

Overall, I would suggest this series to anyone that enjoys an easy read that can escape to the lives of 4 teenagers, living in Rosewood, PA. being tormented by their dead friend Alison.
