Review: Did I Mention I Love You by Estelle Maskame

Post by Maxinnaaa »

Okay, so I didn't expect to love this book this much. I was scanning my NetGalley list of books to review when I noticed this and I wanted some Contemporary feels so I thought, why not? The title made me hesitate for a moment and I'm not exactly sure why but I'm so glad I read it! It was actually because I was desperate to read something a I was suffering from an awful reading slump.

And holy cow! I loved it. I thought it was really long but when I finished it, I wanted more of it.

One thing I loved about this book was that it didn't really focus on romance at all. It started with Eden having family issues with her dad who suddenly wanted to be with her for the summer after not bothering to see how she did for the last three years. It had the feeling of Eden trying to fit in their new house with her stepmom and stepbrothers.

But then, I knew the moment Eden didn't meet Tyler at the same time as she met the other two that something major would definitely happen involving them both. And I was so nervous because I didn't actually like what I was guessing and when Tiffani came, the thought kind of faded but not really because I still had it! I was still nervous. My mind was playing tricks on me, guessing who's gonna be together or breaking up or hooking up.

And then it happened. When I read that, I wanted to drown myself in beer too. I was literally chanting, "WTF?!" And really, it was so unexpected, my mind couldn't process it that I read that part thrice. Please, I know you know what I'm talking about. The night of Meg's party.

I knew it was all kinds of wrong and they knew it too. But it still was very good. I mean the story. I loved how Tyler showed her his soft side. And I really wanted to applaud Eden for seeing through the walls. It was really hard to see if you were in her position. She figured him out and it was amazing. She really did make a keen observation.

Now, my thoughts include "I need the second book now" and "I need Tyler, please. More of him so, can I fly to the UK and buy myself a copy?" and "I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!"

Now, I'm gonna cry in the corner while wishing for the 2nd book because I can't buy it online, too, okay? Okay.
