RoseBlood By Harry N. Abrams is what I would call a modern spin off of The Phantom of the Opera. My short review is based on the fact that I have never seen the complete story of The Phantom of the Opera.

In short, this book has a main character, Rune, that has a talent as raw as The Phantom himself. She is sent, unwilllingly, to a French Arts School for Opera students. She quickly finds that the school is not of the "normal", but no one else realizes such.

Rune soon finds that the fears she left behind at home are brought to life at the school as well.

The book continues to bring what she thought was fiction to reality and sets Runes life on a dark, but romantic journey.

My personal feelings on the book: I'm not sure what to say. I wanted to love it. Didn't love it. Don't regret reading it. Felt it could have been given so much more if it wasn't over flowing with descriptions of things that could have been passed over. It almost felt like the descriptions and over explanations were used to cover the fact that the plot and story could have been covered in 200 pages not 400. The idea was fantastic. I would recommend this to someone just looking for a story, but nothing fantastic or somewhere they want to get lost in.

I would rate this book a 2 out of 4 stars. A book I would pick up and read, as I did, but not a book that I would press anyone to read. Not the "Oh my gosh, you have to read this book."

I have to agree with your rating. I was disappointed at how lackluster the follow through was once the idea was presented.
I have to say that I don’t regret reading it at all. I love the phantom of the opera and will most likely devour any variation that I can for the rest of my life.
