The Culling by Tricia Wentworth

Post by kandscreeley »

I stumbled across this book on Kindle Unlimited and thought I would give it a try. Oh my! I'm only halfway through Book 1, but it's got me hooked! It's so fabulous. It's similar to The Selection but yet different.

A virus was released purposely into the waters in North and South Korea. Unfortunately, the virus was more potent than they realized. It spread quickly and killed most of the world's populations. Only 150,000 out of 7 billion were left. It's now 150 years later, and there is a contest called The Culling to decide who will be the next president and madam president. Reagan finds herself competing with 49 other girls and 50 other boys.

I encourage you guys to look into this one!

Sounds very hunger gamesish!

Loving the logic of a huge population decrease, so they start what sounds like a killing match to decide the president, killing yet more people

Well, this is hunger gam-ish. I thought it would be a killing match as well, but it actually isn't. They DO just send the people home who don't make it.

Definitely. The author should probably change the name of the book. Something a little less dramatic so you don't think they kill the poor kids... I liked hunger games, but I wasn't ever a fan of the killing.
