I do like C.S. Lewis but when I read a novel, I expect it to be a narrative and a complete story, generally speaking. I also love poetry but I wouldn't expect to read poetry as a novel, or vice versa. I think I'd probably have most of the same issues you did. Thanks for such an honest review. I think it's excellent to start with positive aspects. :)

It's clear from that excerpt you give that the author really pushes the boundaries of language here. I admire her for having the courage to go for it and you can get this feeling of being swept out, as if to sea, by poetic prose. A fantastical journey could be colourful, as it is in the Narnia books, yet I might find the style too self-indulgent and distracting, I feel.
This post was brought to you by the word "specifically".

This is a piece for the very imaginative and whimsical mind in a playful way. The poetic semblance lends to a sing-song tone of sentences when words are strung together with end rhymes. I find it somewhat musical. I would enjoy this so much. Thanks for your enlightening review.

I can’t decide if I would like this or not. It sounds interesting from your description. I loved Narnia but I’m not sure if its for me. Thanks for your review.

I am sure this book will find its readers, but unfortunately I won't be among them, because this is not my type of reading. Sorry.

Thanks for the review. This is a great book about kids adventure and fantasies, but after taking a look at it coupled with the reviewer comment of the author writing style I don't think it's my thing.

I'm a fan of commas! Didn't care much for the style of prose when reading the online sample. Thank you for confirming my suspicions!

From the beginning of this review I was excited by the description of what captivated the reader. Seeing a 2/4 I couldn't understand until the excerpt. It was almost as if the character went from story to rant. I am interested in reading for myself to see how the entire book will flow as a whole and if it will too loose me through its unbroken-wordy-ness.

Thank you for your honest yet well-backed review. The poetry and fantasy hues of the book made it interesting yet I agree with you that unconventional grammar does take a toll.

Well written review, thank you! While I enjoy C.S. Lewis, Narnia and “Grand Adventure” style stories, I didn’t particularly enjoy this writing style, not focused enough. Just a personal preference though, I’m sure many will enjoy!

First of all, thank you for a well-written review. I recall reading a book similar to this when I was younger. I believe it was called Newfoundland. It was about a sea voyage with a dog, just like this book. I don't know if it's the book I'd be excited to sit down and read though.

Even though I do like C.S. Lewis, my guess would be that I would find it difficult to fully enjoy this book. Reading something that seems more like poetry and less like a story - not exactly my cup of tea.

One would wonder if the book was self-published. The story of the ocean adventure while in an own makeshift boat seems good. However, many doubts arise from this review of the book.
