I've read the sample and for me it sounds interesting and worth reading though this isn't normally the kinds of books I usually read

My country is (or was, with the banning of the term "Oriental"?) called The Pearl of the Orient Seas, so I was intrigued by this story's title.

The sample showed Chris, Kate, and Holly frolicking on the beach. Much as I wanted to have fun with them, I couldn't as the sentences gave me a bit of a headache.

Bookish Creature, I know what you mean. I hope the author can do something to save this story, so the readers won't feel seasick while reading it.

I’m definitely interested in this interesting book. It seems like a throwback to the modernist era for kids.

I really like your review. I love your writing style and detailed thoughts on the book. I most likely will not read the book. I do however, very much enjoy C.S. Lewis.

When i read the two pages of the book. It seems that I want to stop. Because I don't feel the attraction that I must read that. It should touch the readers mind and feel what he/she reading. For an ordinary reader deep words will not help.

Truly beautiful. Prose and poetry combined.
Two children (along with their Dog, Holly) set off on a voyage, meeting fantastic people and just enough danger (adventure). Beautiful, lyrical prose. It's not just for kids, but for everyone.

I just read 1 page that is too funny and skittle childish in writing. Though I hope it gets interesting on the way.

This book sounds very unique in regard to the writer’s style. I am a fan of C. S. Lewis and as other reviewers have pointed out, this book has a similar feel. I will add it to my reading list for when I want a more challenging read.
Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him.

Thanks for your honest and interesting review. I am an avid fan of fantasy novels, and this book sounded like it might be one that would engage me. However, I don't feel that the poetic pieces that the author writes the story will engage me. The fantasy element sounds fun though. I'm sure that many will enjoy reading this book.

It only took me 3 pages of the free sample to see why you didn't enjoy this book. You mentioned that the author sacrifices function for form in an attempt to make the book sound more poetic stylistically, and I can definitely agree with that point. The pages I read were filled with very simple grammar errors, so much so that it was hard for me to even finish reading it. I've read poetic-sounding fictional stories before that didn't need to sacrifice basic sentence structure in order to sound whimsical. It's a shame because the story of the book sounds interesting, blending allusions to classic literature into a layered story about a journey across the ocean. I just wish it was better written.

maybe I would like this, in the right romantic mood, but I think I want realism now, or at least more of a concrete mix.

I agree with the reviewer that this book has nuances of C. S. Lewis' work, what with the descriptions that are given. Especially since the title, Voyage of Pearl of the Seas sounds like it takes inspiration from Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I have read two chapters so far, and I will read more to see how much I like it. Thanks for your review
