Looking forward to reading this book. It's maybe a little young for my typical junior high student, but it looks ideal for some of my lower ability readers...especially the guys.
Thanks for your review!

Junior high school students may enjoy this. As I stated in an earlier post, I was surprised to learn the age recommendation and actually thought the book was intended for a slightly older readership. I can't even see junior high school in the rear-view mirror anymore, but I enjoyed the book nonetheless!
I'd love to hear your thoughts after you've had a chance to read it!

I think so. Dracula, Frankenstein, Jekyll & Hyde, Dorian Gray, Sleepy Hollow, and to a lesser degree The Invisible Man are all classical literature. My exposure to these was first through movies. Even as a little kid I loved to watch the old b&w horror films from the 30s and 40s. I read the books when I got a little older. These movies might be a hard sell to kids now; unless you're a real film buff or just a weirdo like me, they would seem very old, dated, and probably uninteresting.ALynnPowers wrote:This might be a good mood to get kids interested in "classic" monsters... Lead them into the required readings for high school. What do you think?

Johnny Depp did a pretty good at getting me interested in Sleepy Hollow.PashaRu wrote:I think so. I didn't see that. Sometimes I really like Johnny Depp (Jack Sparrow), and sometimes he's just creepy (Willy Wonka).ALynnPowers wrote:Johnny Depp did a pretty good at getting me interested in Sleepy Hollow.

I'd probably like it because it was directed by Tim Burton. Then again, so was Charlie and the Chololate Factory.ALynnPowers wrote:He was pretty awesome in Sleepy Hollow!
