Re: Official Review: Discovering Who You Are
Sounds like the lack of research examples were purely because the author based the book on her own personal experiences. I understand the need to share and enlighten others but it can be a challenge for those who don't understand or may want to read further from her philosophicies. Great review Christina, might not read the book though.juliusotinyo wrote:
Self-help books appeal to me. From your review, this ain't a good one. I still appreciate every viewpoint regarding depression and possible treatments. Nice review.
It wasn't bad, but there was definite room for improvement. I think adding academic examples to back up her ideas would have helped a lot. Thank you for your thoughts!

It really does take a strong minded person to realize that you need to step back and help yourself before trying to help others. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!mumoscar wrote:I love the book already; discover yourself and never give up, facing your feelings before you decide to help others and the great messages included have hooked me up to check it out. It's so unfortunate that it's poorly edited denying it a better rating. It's again wearisome trying to reread for better understanding. Nice review.

Thank you! I would definitely check out a revised edition.EVANSO wrote:This is a nice book for self-discovery. It's however, unlucky that the author couldn't perfect the editing. Nice review.

That's what I'm hoping for as well. Thank you!Amagine wrote:It sounds like the book is full of quality information but the lack of editing detracts from the information. Hopefully the author will edit the book.
Great Review! ?

Your assessment sounds pretty accurate. And, I'm sure publishing a book versus another means, such as blogging, was far more appealing. It widens the audience for someone trying to help others.sj_robert wrote:Sounds like the lack of research examples were purely because the author based the book on her own personal experiences. You're right, I am the type that likes further reading along with the author's personal experiences. Maybe it adds concrete validation? I don't know.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
