Hardship makes and destroys people. Some may come out strong while others may come out broken. Aiyasha, though being an orphan too took it upon herself to take care of other orphans. This is a great sense of responsibility.
Every child deserves support and protection from the government, so laws to protect the right of children should be made and enforced.

I”d rate this book 5 just from reading this review. I wouldn't know where to start with what I like most. Having spent most of my career in child protection, I'd probably pick this as the most poignant observation: 'the many ills perpetuated on the less privileged ones in society, especially the orphans, by the very same ones who were meant to protect them’. Consequently, the book should be read also by such people – the 'caregivers’ – not just teenagers; although I take your implied point that, if read at an early stage in life, this book could prevent the errant behaviours.

The less privileged children are also children created by God and thus must be treated well and provided with the basic needs of life. Thanks for an insightful review. Congrats on BOTD.

This book talks about how Aiyasha, who was an orphan, was given the responsibility of taking care of seven other orphans without adequate food, good living conditions, and education. This is truly an inspirational story and shows in practical aspects how essential willingness and resilience are in realising one's goals, irrespective of the handicaps or obstructions on the way. I liked how the orphans conducted themselves, always focused on the things ahead, undeterred by the arrogance and wickedness of some of their town leaders.

Someone could scarcely handle becoming an orphan at such a young age like Aiyasha. At fifteen, she was given the job of looking after other orphan children, which was a huge responsibility but one she could handle. How did Aiyasha do it all? I want to learn more.
