I am definitely putting this book and the sequel on my to-read list. Sounds excellent!

My review from Goodreads (translated with Google translator because I'm a lazy ass)

This is a real page-turner. I admit I did not like to be sometimes so many characters involved but the skeleton, the structure of the story itself is solid and well developed. Travel between the present and the past build the basis on which we let ourselves go. The musical element is always present and he himself embodies some lyricism to the plot. Brings us closer to the characters because generally all like music, although very few of us engage so strongly to this as Mia.
Some important points that I remember:
- The relationship that builds between Mia and Adam is realistic and humble. Not the typical color pink romance and, as a reader, I thank because it was not such a thing I'd expect from a book of this kind.
- The transition between the past and the present was built so as to cause emotion in the reader, which, in my view, is something that is not easily reached. Technical writing is not the same as you can appeal to readers.
- After all I think Mia wanted to give up too early and now I feel an urge to go running to buy the next book, more out of curiosity than find it an indispensable book that I have to have mandatory.
- Although fairly enjoyed the story itself and all the issues it raises and all the thoughts that pass only in the mind if we met in the same situation, the writing itself is nothing special, either in Portuguese, is in english.

But deserved the three stars simply be something as easy to read and that so easily appeals to the reader.
"Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world."
- Gustave Flaubert

I LOVE this book! I thought that it was gripping, and very emotionally charged. It was a poignant story that I have read many times since first reading.

I had seen the previews for the movies before picking up the book. I did finally pick up the book to read and enjoyed it. It was an easy quick read and I was hooked from the first chapter. Though a little disappointed with the ending as for me it left a lot unanswered and I was not happy with that. however her writing style is easy to go through, and not a mess like some books I have read.

I saw the trailer and was hooked by the song in it, 'Say something.' I really want to read the book, but my mom told me I have to wait...

I read this book probably about four years ago. I loved it. However, I don't recommend reading the second one because it's pretty terrible..

This was a great read. I loved the flashbacks and how everything is described. I was rooting for Mia from the start as well. I understand the main problem and her needing to decide to stay or not, but it was almost repetitive at some points, and I almost stopped reading. All in all, it's pretty good.

I picked up If I Stay because of the popular demand of the book. I really looked forward to reading it due to all the positive reviews I had read. But, I cannot say this book was one of my favorites. I felt like the book was very slow and uninteresting. Basically the whole book is about how Mia is in a coma with an out of body experience, while she is trying to decide whether to stay or go to the next life. She recalls memories from the past frequently. That's what happens. Nothing exciting comes to pass.

I loved this book. It really got me thinking about personal decisions and wondering if I could choose to stay or go. I lost my grandmother a year ago and it has been in my mind if she watched us while we were in the hospital with her and if she heard us while we were there. I have wondered if she had the choice why did she choose to go and if we did know why she chose to go maybe it would gave helped us grieving.
