Thanks for the great review - it gives a very good idea of what the book is like. Might be one my teenage daughter would enjoy....

Thanks for your review! This sounds like a fun book. I find shamanism interesting, so I'd probably enjoy it. Not sure I want to read the second book in the series before I read the first, even if the background is easy to grasp.

A very informative and detailed review. I don't normally read in this genre and I also wondered about the Costa Rica setting. Thanks so much.

I love adventure reads and especially based around central America. It's a shame it's not edited well

Nice. Based on your review and after reading the sample, this sounds like a wonderful read. Since it's about using a magical type of gift for a young adult, maybe I can get my daughter interested in it as well. Hopefully, the editing difficulties are not too distracting. Thanks!

Great review! I do love a good fantasy adventure read. It's nice that even though this is a sequel that this one can be read as a stand alone, but it sounds intriguing enough that I think I'll begin with the first book first. I really hope that the book gets another round of editing, as it can ruin a great story when mistakes pop you out of the story. Thanks so much for sharing.

Exciting and enlightening, full of physical and spiritual dangers, The Quetzal Skull takes Gray and the reader on an adventure of thrilling proportions. I find shamanism interesting, so I'd probably enjoy it...

I like that the book uses social issues like drug cartel violence and the threat of indigenous cultures being wiped out by the mainstream culture as a backdrop. I also like that the book has animistic religious aspects to it to give it authenticity. I like your review and I can see how shifting perspectives can becoming confusing.

young adult books these days, are always about taking the person to another fantasy world. From what I have read so far, this book appears to be the same. Congrats on the BOD. I particularly like this genre so I enjoy reading books on it.

That sounds fascinating. I'm always interested in modern takes on older religions, and this sounds like there's a gripping adventure story to boot. I'll check it out.

Nice review, thanks for that.

Thanks for the enlightening review. With the editing issues resolved (as mentioned in one of the posts), the book must be a better read now.

The book has a young hero so it seems to be directed to the young adult crowd. Thus, while the sample on Amazon was engaging, I will pass now but may yet give the book a try in the future.

Thank you for the detailed review which gave some useful contextual information. It's great to know it can be read as a standalone even though it is the second in a series; that explains the rather rushed flashback!

I have already downloaded the book and read the first section. One is certainly pulled straight into the adventure and the ancient religion themes sound fascinating.

I'll be interested to read more. Not sure if my 11-year-old would like it as she's not particularly into fantasy. She also gets annoyed by editing issues as do I. I'm a professional editor who would love to get work editing fiction!
