Goodbye, Rudy Kazoody by AA Freda, is a contemporary YA novel that covers many tough topics that teenagers face every day. In the book, we see the questioning of religion, physical abuse, sex and much more. I will love to read it. Great review!

The prominent aspect of this book is the cultural diversity and the problems the immigrant teenagers face in the Bronx.

Spike seems fascinating, and I love that the book has diverse characters, but I'm not interested in the plot, so I'll give this a pass. Thanks for the review, though.

I found your review to be very informative and detailed. I read the free sample to this book, and was intrigued, but after reading your review I decided to purchase it so now I can finish the story. I would'nt normally steer torwards YA for my own reading pleasure, but this story seems to have a lit of depth. Seems a worthwhile read! Thanks for the review :)

The book tells of the of the everyday struggles that immigrants have to face.Spike' vacillating personality between heroism and villainy really adds drama to the story.I don't think the book is for me though. Thanks Amagine for such a great review.

I must say that I immediately added this to my shelf on reading this review. I love the fact that its totally relatable to almost everyone that has been through or is going through the teen/young adult age. Another thing I find fascinating is the fact that it cuts across different diversities. Which makes it even more relatable.

This was well reviewed. Thank you.

Having read the sample on Amazon and the official review, I went back to see if I had won a free copy of this book. I had! I was intrigued by the story line. Although it is listed as a YA book, I am looking forward to reading this story.

Being a teenager is rough. This book seems to accent most of the struggles adolescents go through with a few extras mixed in like gangs and immigrants.

I love the storyline in this book. Its normal for new immigrants and teenagers to feel this way, yet at the same time they're trying so hard to fit in, to be accepted by society rather than themselves, to find their true worth and their meaning in life. Its haunting and beguiling at the same time.

Realistic YA books are impressive and necessary. Awareness of what is going on gives knowledge and in turn, that gives strength. These are really issues that teenagers go through and I wish they would learn a thing or two from this book. Great review.

Your review summarizes the book well. Unfortunately, I don't care for this type of graphic book. I also find it troubling that something so full sex and violence would be recommended to teens.

I can't even imagine how it must feel to be thirteen years old, an Italian immigrant moving to the Bronx, and not knowing how to speak English. It's a good thing that Joey has his cousin, Spike, to help him out! It's great to have a text that include topics that can be relatable to teens today and I like that there is a lot of diversity here. Also, I like that Joey grows and changes, but what's great is to know is that Spike is a character who is complicated, strong, and he doesn't feel the need to change for anyone. Too bad that the narrator wasn't as strong as it would have been if Spike were the one telling the story and that the enigma, "Rudy Cazoody", wasn't an interesting plot point. The graphic sexual scenes are probably too much for me, but glad you enjoyed the read! Thanks for sharing!

This book seems to bring out the reality faced by teenagers. It seems too graphic for me to read.
