In "Switch-Hitter, a Tennis Novel" by Barnaby Starr, Sheila, an ambidextrous tennis player, undergoes a remarkable transformation. Nigel, a homeless Bahamian, becomes her beacon of hope, helping her overcome her grief and reignite her passion for the game, which she had lost after the death of her father, a professional baseball player. This book is a testament to the power of support and inspiration and will surely inspire its audience. Thank you for the engaging review.

Not so much into YA sports fiction novel, But liked the plot this was something new for me.

"Switch-hitter", a Tennis Novel. From what I have read till now Sheila lost her father who was also her guide and trainer died due to certain reason this broke her and she quits her game. Author shows that how she overcomes her trauma and became the best player again, and focus on her journey.

Hopping to read the book soon.

Sports stories are often about characters persevering and transforming in the face of real, non-fantastical obstacles. The constant jumping of time periods can get tiring, but it's the struggles of Sheila and Nigel we're here for. What life does an ambidextrous player live? I want to find out more!
I write the best reviews possible. :idea2:

Even though I am in the wrong age category, I love reading young adult novels. Tennis is a good background for a motivational message. I was surprised tobhear about teen pregnancy being discussed. I am curious about the narrator from the womb, must be an amazing perspective.

This sounds like a story of overcoming hardships and resilience. Sheila loosing her father, her ultimate inspiration to play tennis, is heartbreaking and it's understandable that she can't bring herself to play tennis anymore. But I am curious to see how Nigel will motivate her to get her back on it. I think it's a great book.

I'm sure that Sheila's talent will speak for her. I felt bad, though, that she lost her dad. I'm looking forward to her journey and how it pays off. Congratulations on the book of the day.

I found the way the author used a somewhat messy timeline to tell his story very intriguing, something that makes us wonder why he created a story this way, but there doesn't seem to be an answer to that in the book.

I like it when people think outside the box and use terms that are closer to their idea, such as the use of tennis rules in the pages.

It's always great to read an inspiring story, especially when the focus is on showing the positive impact it can have on people's lives.

Tua from the Miami Dolphins, even though he is right-handed, throws with his left. Switch-Hitter's main character, Sheila, reminds me a lot of this football player. I am curious to know how Sheila is able to show off her talents and succeed in a world against her. Thanks for the review!

A little girl with a special gift that enables her to hit a forehand from both her left and right sides is the subject of Switch-Hitter: A Tennis Novel. Her father used his skills as a professional baseball player and was also ambidextrous. Ironically, the title may also allude to Barnaby Starr's chosen style of writing, as the novel's narrator alternates between three distinct points of view. This novel is inspiring, but because the timeframes are not chronological, it took me a long time to adjust to the strange narration.
