interesting, i would like to read your reviewsEnigma wrote:I found the series too repetitive and poorly written. I forced myself to read all the books as I was asked to review them. I remember enjoying the first three and then it went down hill.
It's great that you've enjoyed them but in my opinion there are many more paranormal books that are 100 x better.

- Latest Review: "The Paradigm Success Codes For Life" by Carla Wynn
The authors P.C. Cast and her daughter Kristin Cast wrote the series well. Zoey Redbird’s character grew as her powers grew and she always tried to save the innocent. She was a fledgling vampire that had to go to a certain school for vampires after she was marked. She had to overcome the emotional consequences of having her life turned upside down. She makes new friends and new enemies each book.
What I liked most about the book series is how the authors kept the gang close and they always took care of one another. I however did not like the fact that the main conflict, Neferit, was never fully defeated but allowed time to gain more power each book. For instance, Zoey and her gang end up having to run and hide from her eventually. I like it better when the good guys win.
I give this series a rating of 2 out 4 stars. Overall this series is really good; I just could not stay interested in the series. The series is more for the teenage audience and they may not have the same opinion because I know some that still read the series and are very excited about it. I personally couldn’t keep interest.

Thanks! It looks like my post was re-routed into the existing sectionSharisseEM wrote:Hey there, there's actually a post for the House of Night series in the Sci-Fi and Fantasy Books section. The HON series is pretty awesome. I haven't read all the books, just those I could get my hands on during book sales. I think it's pretty cool how it starts out fairly simple with teenage high school issues and then evolves into some pretty big war. And then there's the evolution of their own kind like the Red Vampyres. So sad what happened to Professor Lankford and his wife.

The last book in the series "Redeemed" doesn't come out until October 14th, so you don't know if they defeat her fully or not yet! I personally like how the bad guy is stronger than them because they ARE teens and just growing into their powers. They have to find creative ways to keep her at bay and I love it. Looking forward to the last book. BTW in book 10 they do find a way to "subdue" her but the series has 12 books total and 5 novellas as wellAshley2005 wrote:The House of Night Series was really good at first. I couldn’t wait for the next book to come out. The conflict brought the characters together and the reader could see them grow stronger together. The problem is that the main conflict never is resolved. The good guys never fully win in the series and I don’t like that as reference for teenagers to go by. To me this shows the audience that “evil” will be a step ahead of the good guys.

I will eventually go back and finish the series just to say that I read them all but, I am in no rush.

I have read 10 our of the 12 and I see what you mean. I became lackadaisical because I was wondering how there could be 2 more books BUT because the last one in the series comes out in a few more days, I will be reading the lats two shortly anyway. I don't like all of Zoey's boy woes but other than that the series has bee very excellent!klastra88 wrote:I was very much into HON for the first 6 or 7 books but after that I kind of got tired of waiting around for the next book. I lost interest. I think a series should be no longer than 6 or 7 books anything more than that is just too much.
