With what I read for the sample, I agree with this review! The description in just that first chapter was amazing. I felt like I was camping along side these boys. I can identify a bit with Lib. I absolutely love camping now. I have many fun memories of camping with family and friends. This book will be added to my ever-growing to-read list.

Camping and hiking are my kind of things so I'm sure I'd love this book being too long and too descriptive. It actually sounds like it could bring the reader back to that state of youth when he or she didn't have to care of all the "important" stuff like job, and politics, and the prices...

Camping where I come from is entirely different from this mode of camping. Still, it bears the same spirit. It's nice that this is the story if a boy who grows during the process and is a more confide t version of himself because of the camping experience. Nice review!

I was a scout way back in schools and I can relate it to this book. I love how the author wrote Welcome to Shadow Creek by Don Williams in an appealing manner. The book sounds interesting and I will add it to my to read list. Great review.

The book is not quite what you could call "right up my alley", but it seems intriguing all the same. I would like to give it a try if only for the sake of confirming my opinion about camping) What can I say, I am urban kind of girl! Thankfully it promising to be delicious read)

Though this book sounds detailed and thorough, it just doesn't sound interesting enough for me to continue reading. I am sure it is interesting enough for camping fans. Though I love to camp, reading stories about a boy and his menagerie of friends and dad on a camping trip just doesn't pique my interest right now.

Despite the inconvenience, I really like camping. Being with nature for a few days somehow calms me down. Plus, I get to form stronger bonds with those I go camping with. Lib's experience is I'd probably relate to. Thank you for the recommendation.

I’ve never been camping, so I’m not sure it’s my cup of tea, but I don’t mind reading about it! Sounds like a fun adventure.

Extremely well-written review. I like camping but I can easily see how each role the characters played in the story could easily make camping a lot more work. I am passing on this BOTD so that it doesn't taint my current views on camping.

I have spent most of my life either in the wild or hiking on routes through all sorts of terrain, so a book like this will always appeal to me. On all sorts of camping trips, it is interesting to see how people change and open up as well. This book seems to do a good job at describing this, which makes it all the more realistic, I think. Thank you for a nice and comprehensive review which was pleasant to read.

I love well described stories. Even though this is not my type of genre I may sift through the pages of this book just for the description. Great review.

The story is heavily descriptive. I love the fact that the author has a bit of sense of humour. This is evident in his statements of description. He says, 'August Rinke is pumping the pedal gas and the releasing his foot, causing the tired vehicle to take on a rocking long-horse movement.'
