Unfortunately, there are a few issues with the book. The first is that the story seems off for kids who are eight years old. The way the kids talk, the things they think about, and the relationship between David and Teri match kids that are eleven or twelve or even older. It doesn’t fit kids that are only eight. Another downfall is that there are a few inconsistencies. There are times when something is said at the beginning of the book, but then a contradictory statement is said later on. For example, when they get to the motel, it seems like they are still far from their grandparents’ house, but then David tells Teri that their grandparents live in the area.
I guess it's really hard to capture kids' voices once one stops being one.
But I actually love the paranormal/romance mix in here! There's something super exciting about young love and first adventures. Thank you for your honest review.

Having gone through this review, I came away seeing The Mystery of the Hillside Motel by David Murray as an engaging and approachable read. The blend of genres combined with the well-crafted first-person perspective gives the narrative extra layers of interest. That said, certain moments—particularly where the characters’ actions felt out of sync with their ages and a few minor inconsistencies—stood out as weak points. Even so, thank you for the well written review, and it certainly sound like an intresting read.
It was books that made me feel that perhaps I was not completely alone.

This review offers a thoughtful assessment of The Mystery of the Hillside Motel, highlighting its strengths in narration, readability, and multi-genre appeal. While praising its charm and accessibility, it fairly notes age-inappropriate character behavior and some plot inconsistencies.

This sounds like a good book when one is looking for a light and quick read. I agree 8 may sound a little too far-fetched, just like the reviewer Autumn David's granddaughter was in doubt. David walking down memory lane with Autumn sounds like an interesting read after learning the adventure involved. Great review!

The review is indepth and gives the reader overall idea of the book. It creates curiosity in the minds of the readers, similar to the preface of the book.

The reviewer described this book extraordinarily well. Not only did they include all of the genres in which the book leans towards, but they also seem curious and excited for what lies in further chapters of this book.

The mystery around the Hillside Motel sounds really fun and interesting. I’m curious to see what David and Teri uncover. I also like how it blends adventure, light romance, and a touch of paranormal. The cover looks amazing too.

The review is thorough with pros and cons listed clearly. The bit on mix of genre and David's narration interests me to pick up possibly a book of mysteries.

This is an adventure book with drama and some romance. I love the cover. I love the colors. It has a bit of a paranormal theme, but it's actually light. The content is more geared toward a teen or pre-teen audience. It's not for children. It seems like light reading, a short book, and a good plot for entertainment.

I love how precise and to the point this is. It tell me the necessary information I need to know before diving into a book, in such a straightforward way. As someone who's first language isn't English this was very helpful. Although I'm a bit bothered by what you said about them being only eight year olds but the author making them seem 11 or 12, otherwise I love a good mystery book and now I'm really curious about how I'll all unfold in the end. :-)

When David and his family arrived at the Hillside Motel, they just wanted to have a good time. But plans change and when David met Teri, he is decided to join her in all of her adventures. I love the combination of genres in the book, and I cannot wait to read it.

One can find an young adult story about eight-year-old David and his adventure while his family stays at the Hillside Motel by reading the book "The Mystery of The Hillside Motel" by David Murray Anderson. The story is about friendship and adventure.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

I think I'll try this book, even though there is some issue and things dont add up like mentioned in the review. I'm just curious to see how it all ends, and a light read would be perfect for me at this stage. Thanks for a detailed review. Congrats on BOTD.

The storyline of this book is suited for a much younger audience and doesn't appeal to me, even though there are some genres that I like; I will have to pass on it. Thank you for the review.
