Great review...but I'm curious how the title and cover art actually relate to the story. They seem at odds. Congrats on BOTD though!

What a great review. Even though this book is fiction it resonates with the way things are going right now. So many children do go home to terrible situations and lots go hungry without the schools feeding them. I can understand why they would want to just give up on learning. Congrats on writing a book so close to reality and being BOTD.

From the very first page of the sample, even the mantra got to me. Start for the story. Care for the characters. Stay for the twist. As an Avid Reader, parents of young children, and a husband of a teacher, I can definitely see the attraction to this story. As an added bonus, the writing seems excellent and intriguing.

A well written and detailed review. This is a good job. The story too sounds enticing.

As someone who has worked in schools and have witnessed problems very similar to the main character, I applaud the author for bringing these themes to light. Even though this is a work of fiction, this subject is very real. Great review!

Unfortunately, this disinterest of kids to study is almost worldwide. We, teachers, have to create magic in order to grasp the students' attention and really help them learn. As Mr. Bowen mentions, the reasons for the disengagement are countless. It's a good thing he decided to talk about them so the the public be aware of them. Thanks for the charismatic review!

It's heartbreaking to know that even though this book is fiction, many children face terrible situations in their home life. The genuine compassion of a teacher can make a difference though. I want to read this book, but I know that it will be emotionally difficult to do so.

Great review! The storyline looks really good. I feel sad knowing that some children are giving up hope due to family problems.I know some friends who went through that kind of childhood. I;m just glad that most of them did not give up in life.
