I think it would be different to read a Robin Hood story that has a female as the lead character. I look forward to reading it hopefully soon.

This sounds like a nice story! Hope the author finds success with it; it sounds like it could be a good fit for school libraries everywhere.

The main char has today's problem of thinking that they understand History by looking at it through current standards. Failing to realize that it was *different,* including in how they thought. Robyn, is full of typical teenage "I know it all." Her Mother appears to exhibit little respect for promises made to her daughter, thus exhibiting the same arrogance as Historical _male_ figures. The "I am important, and what I do is more important than 'little' people."
It's not surprising that when thrown back into the time of Richard the Lion Heart, she becomes an outlaw, as in the title. Just as in a similar book, the MC was opposed by society. Being Female, she would feel even more "oppressed," due to how women were treated. It wasn't right then, or now, but opposition to it had to be careful back then.

This was a great review, thank you! I think it's very important to teach young people today that gender equality does not have to be earned, it is a given right. This is a good book to help teach that lesson, and I really enjoyed it!

Stories about good an evil are always going to be an attraction, and if we add a female lead that protests because she's been treated unfairly because of her gender, then we have a winner. I definitely want to read what she does to fight against this situation, and how the magic is involved in it as well. :D Thanks for the review.

Thank you for your thorough review on a modern twist on a classic, Ms. Williams! I'm a huge fan of reading new books that have been turned on their sides to bring new angles into the literary world. Young women have long been the heroines of the classics, but their fates are often fatal. Not the case here!

I appreciate that Robin has power and confidence to equip her own civil disobedience to do what she believes is just and worthy--something I believe is far more characteristic of females than literature has given precedence to. Bravo to novelist and screenwriter John Reynolds for challenging cultural norms and summoning the long-lost sister of the Hood, Robin Howard! :tiphat:

I love the tale of Robin Hood and he striped to provide for the poor by stealing from the rich. I like the twist where the protagonist is female and not only her but her band also. I would be interested to see how the writer has tackled the issue of gender equity. All in all, I would really like to read this book.

Robyn Hood -Outlaw Princess

The book tells the millenial version of the classic Robin Hood story. It has a few interesting twist such as the lead/protagonist is female and a teenager. It is a refreshing new point of view of "Robin/Robyn" Hood.

The traditional societal roles are revsered: working mom who is aggressive verses a meek dad. It gives the story a different look and makes it more relatable to the millennial generation.

For the twist ins sociteal rones I would recommend this book , giving it 3 stars. However, in my opinion maybe the story lend could have been older and a it more mature.

Overall good read.

It's an interesting premise, but the chapters seem entirely too short for meaningful development within the characters. I understand that the novel is directed towards children, but longer chapters would give the author time and space to flesh out the world around Robyn. I think young girls would love this novel as is, and the book uses short chapters to benefit those young readers. It's wonderful to keep your target audience in mind because I really do believe this book caters to a younger audience. To have an adventurous, determined, and equality driven protagonist like Robyn gives young girls the belief that they too can change the world. And this would be a book I'd gladly give my children for that exact reason. But this isn't the kind of children's book that translates well into adult life despite the great message. Everything is zeroed in on Robyn while the world around her is left undescribed. Amazing Child and Young Teen fiction like Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and Cirque Du Freak, come from a fully developed world that seems realistic to all generations. As I previously stated, this would be a well-loved children's book. But longer chapters dedicating time to scenery and character development would make this a book children would read for the rest of their lives.

:techie-studyinggray: Female Robyn Hood! Sounds great. I am surprised that in every society treat female in a different way means different from male but I am happy that writer give freedom to protagonist. I like this story, I am a fan of fantasy stories. I like this too and keep it in my book shelf forever. :techie-studyinggray:
