A Bloody Book by Chris Bowen is an awesome story! This story keeps you engaged, interested, and amused. I found myself immersed in the story, not wanted to stop reading. You cannot help but pursue each next page with eagerness. The author places you directly into the mind of Maxx, the main character of the book. When you read this story, you feel the emotion poured upon each page. Maxx's juvenile mind is on full display throughout the story.

As soon as you finish reading the books preface, you jump right into Maxx's story. He starts to explain middle school life through his eyes. The eyes of a youth that is the product of a broken home. The book is very fluent even with the author jumping around in the timeline of Maxx's life. It is always easy to know where you are. The transitions were truly remarkable. I did not notice any errors in the book. The only thing to note was Maxx's incorrect English. Even then, this is part of Maxx's character. So, I would not hold that against the publisher.

I feel like this book would be great for a variety of people. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy drama and thrillers. I would like to warn young readers of the amount of foul language present. I feel it was unnecessary. Still, it does give a true representation of the character's vocabulary. I remember my 11th grade English teacher explaining that the use of foul language is a sign of a poor vocabulary. That fact is subjective, but I would tend to agree.

My only complaint would be the tangent the story goes on towards the end of the book. Until this point, a large collection of Maxx's life experiences do not get drag out. Those first stories were short and full of flavor. At the last few chapters that momentum is slightly lost. Although, this could be on purpose, to expand on how troubled Maxx really is. So when he gets to this part of his story, he has a lot more to say.

In conclusion, this book was an excellent read. I truly enjoyed it and I give it a rating of 4 out of 4 stars . I urge readers to check out the books free sample on Amazon. Go ahead and read the preface, it is a great introduction to the story. The book delivers on every promise and expectation outlined in the preface.
