I rate The Crystilleries of Echoland by Dew Pellucid and narrated by B.J. Harrison a 4 out of 4 stars.

In The Crystilleries of Echoland by Dew Pellucid and read by B.J. Harrison, Will learns that there are two worlds that exist, the world we live in and the world that mirrors ours, Echoland. Each person who lives in our world, called a sound, has a counterpart in Echoland, called, an echo. When a sound dies their echo is killed so the ruler of Echoland sends someone after Will so that his echo will have to be put to death. With the help of some friends Will is able to escape to Echoland where he works to save not only himself and his echo but all of Echoland.

The audio version of this book was fantastic! B.J. Harrison's narration was clear and his reading speed was perfect. The voices that he did for each character were different enough that you understood which character was speaking. Harrison's voice was calming and I was able to listen to it in 4 hour chunks without losing my focus.

The content of the book itself was wonderful. Pellucid built a world that is beautifully written. She was able to transport me to her world in this book. I loved the depth that she gave to her characters. She was able to invoke all sorts of feelings in me. I really fell in love with Will and wanted him to succeed. The way she wrote all of the secondary characters too showed that they had depth and back stories too, they were not just two dimensional characters that we see all the time in young adult book's secondary characters.

There is a lot of violence and killing in this book. The ruler of Echoland is a harsh man who does not care what he has to do to stay in power. The cavalierness of the deaths of some of the characters, starting with the king at the start of the book, can be a little off putting. I wish there was a little bit more feeling from the characters as people were killed. The story at the beginning lagged a little bit and she glossed over Will's parents a little. I wish we had seen more from them so that we could understand more about why they were the way they were.

Overall, I highly recommend this book and the audiobook of it as well. It will be one I will revisit over the years and share with my own children.
