Sunshine Reigns by M.F. Blake is a fictional sci-fi tale of the Unified Universe (UU) consisting of several humanoids of different species. These are Hadarians, Kardastarians, Baatarians, Glasfordians, and Trinidar, among others. Two best adult species of each humanoid are selected to attend the academy situated far away from UU. At the academy, they were exposed to some survival classes, studies on great friendships, and discipline to improve the universe.

A new warlord and leader, Bructus, emerged in Kardastar. He was an Earthling, half humanoid, and half fabricated machine and was bloodthirsty and greedy. Bructus needed hostages, something to bargain with to secure the cooperation of all UU members and execute his evil plans. Sunshine Blue Mountain from peaceful Baatar met Gideon from Hadar again at the academy after their first encounter at the trade station. They became attracted to each other, but the cultural difference between them was a barrier. How did they overcome this barrier? What was the consequence of Brustus' action in seeking the cooperation of UU? The answers to these questions make Sunshine Reigns a fantastic book.

The author did a fantastic job of developing each character and narrating the thrills of the alternative world. His writing style ensured that the pace was balanced, not too slow or too fast. I admire how Sunshine Blue Mountain, the Wasserians, and the priestesses of Twis were able to make decisive choices. Their focus on ending the tyrannical rule is commendable. I also love the brilliance in strategy, the warfare of women, dictatorship, and religion portrayed in the book with distinct lessons to share with the readers. For example, the strategical introduction of the universal dialogue translators among the residents of UU is admirable.

Furthermore, this novel seemed to bolster the scientific view that life beyond planet Earth and UFOs' claims might be valid. I also admire the bravery, love, and romance between the two principal characters, Gideon and Sunny. This relationship makes Sunshine Reigns interesting to the last page.

I have no issues with the storyline of this book. It was written in an appealing way for readers' enjoyment. Also, I find no grammatical errors in this book. However, if you don't like books with some violent scenes, I suggest you steer clear of this one.

Therefore, I rate Sunshine Reigns 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend the book to young adults and women in the quest to foster feminism in the world. Also, readers who appreciate novels with storylines involving space studies, adventure, love, and heartbreaks will love it.

Lovely review! It is concise and direct too. I read sci-fi books but I find that I normally don't love the plots. This one is looking bright though. Its going to the bookshelf ASAP!

The strong character development would be necessary with the introduction of all the unique humanoid creatures. I like the idea of a universal dialogue translator! You have some great insights about the author's writing. Thanks for the recommendation.

The cover says this is the third book in a series. I wonder if Sunshine Blue Mountain (fun name) is in all three books? I love stories where students must grow up before they're ready to face a brutal threat. Might have to find the sample pages of the first book to see if it's worth jumping into this series.
