Have you ever wanted to escape reality? In this mythical and magical land, the people who come here run this land with their positive thinking. People of all ages go to this special place to escape the “slip world”, as Kelly May Andrews calls the real world in Manasakd.

The book is about real world problems in a mythical realm. Manasakd is a mythical land, split into sections based on the mana of the people who live there. The land sections are the mythics, storms, healers, intellects, visionaries, empaths, and the dreamers. Kaleb is the first character we meet. He is a 12-year-old boy who visits a psychiatrist frequently for anxiety. He joined Manasakd as a mythic. Tali, a 10-year-old girl, is the most important person in Manasakd. She is a legend. The people in Manasakd are scared and excited for the legends arrival. They have learned about the legend Tali and know her arrival brings good and destruction with her.

Everyone in Manasakd wants to mentor Tali, but who will it be? Will it be the older, more experienced mentor like Dr. Sao? Or will it be someone from the younger council? No one knows Tali’s powers yet, not even Tali. The legend only says she’s a mythic, not what her specialty will be. She is special so she has to have a special power, right?

Overall, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. Manasakd was exceptionally well written. The book was also professionally edited and I found no errors in spelling and grammar. The story line was very intriguing. I did not want to put this book down! I read it in one day! I liked that it wasn't just one perspective. I liked how Andrews went back and forth between perspectives so the readers can see how others were feeling before and when Tali arrived.

I recommend Manasakd by Kelly May Andrews to people of all ages. I loved how the story line had underlying meanings and life lessons. There are multiple places in the book that have examples of life lessons. For example, one life lesson was “Just because everyone else uses those steps, it does not mean they are the right steps for you.” The book is meant to show that not everyone's the same, but they can work together to make their lives better. It is easy to understand and read. I cannot wait for the series to come out!
