If you like adventure and computer games, you will definitely enjoy this book. I would characterize it as an adventure book on the modern level. A kind of the updated version.

At the beginning of the book, Island Games, by Caleb. J. Boyer, two friends, Matthew and Ryan, found himself one day lying on the beach, between the jungle and the ocean, between dangers and beauties, among the visions and the reality. Nothing is clear. How did they come here? Why are they here? Dozens of questions and no single answer. However, one thing is obvious: the boys have been involved in a game. But who is that gamekeeper? Trying to find an answer, the boys faced all kinds of challenges that they had to go through. Every time they got used to the existent challenging circumstances, they were being placed into others, more exciting and dangerous. Many times they faced death, but true friendship, teamwork, and a sense of humor let them overcome it and to get to the next level. The next level of the game or of their life?

There are many things I liked about this book. First of all, I liked the spiral character of this book. It starts all of sudden, and it finishes at the tensest moment. Every stage of this spiral flows out of the previous one and into the next one. Overall, I felt like the whole action of this book is only a part of the events that took place before, and it let us guess what would happen next. I am not a big fan of fantasy and fiction books, but in the end, I realized that this fantasy book turned into a real one. What an unexpected plot twist!

I also liked the way this book was narrated. Writing a fiction book requires special skills from the author in drawing a new world in our imagination. And I think that the author found an appropriate tone in this regard. The book is written detailed enough to make the picture vivid. That is the case with the dialogues of the characters, they are light, funny, with a sense of humor. The descriptions of different scenes in which they had to act are also very detailed, and that’s why they could be also informative for young readers. Reading this book, I could follow it with all the sounds and scents. At the same time, the author leaves space for unfolding the reader’s imagination. There is nothing I disliked about this book.

This book would be interesting for young adults and teenagers that love computer games with levels, especially in the survival mode. I would let my 9-years old son read it. It is like his favorite computer game in a book format. I think that this age group would appreciate the dynamic and adventurous character of this book. On the other hand, the events of this book would teach them the importance of true friendship, family values, perseverance, and doing one’s best in achieving your goals. I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because it is fascinating and accessible for young adults. This book has been obviously edited as I haven’t noticed any mistakes.
