This novel revolves around the lifestyle, experiences, and struggles of teenagers of unique backgrounds. Fall Boys and Spring Girls is written from the perspective of an American author, Jim E. Gibbons; however, the subjects covered in this book are peculiar to teenagers of most races, if not all.

The writer engaged his readers by introducing several characters like Todd, Scott, Ricky, and Stephanie, and among them are the nerds, bullies, unserious, and confident. They grew up in families of different beliefs like religious, less conservative, and open-minded. They also had the rich, middle-class, and poor among them. These, and many more, had effects on their experiences and life.

I found the book relatable, and it reminded me of my high school and teenage years. Reading this book brought out certain emotions in me such as pity, sadness, love, and excitement.

While reading this book, I noticed that there were ample spaces at the end of several pages which usually signify the end of a chapter; however, this wasn’t the case here as subsequent pages showed the continuation of the same pages and chapters. In as much as I won’t count this as a complaint because it had little effect on my appreciation of this book, it is worthy of note.

Despite the amazing plot of this book, it isn’t free from off-putting errors, and this affected my level of appreciation of it. Apparently, it needs another round of editing. This is what I disliked about this book, and this turns out to be my only grouse about it. For this reason, I’m giving Fall Boys and Spring Girls a rating of three out of four stars.

I liked that the author divided this book into two parts. The first part is ‘Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Years’ while the second part is ‘Senior Year.’ These parts signify the different school levels of the relevant characters. I couldn’t help but appreciate this because it made me mentally prepared for what to expect from these characters.

What I loved most in this book is the way a particular character, Todd, evolved. During the earlier years of his life, Todd felt like he was inferior to everyone else, but he soon realized that he is equal to everyone. This discovery made him change the way he viewed himself. Like the writer wrote, “He now felt true confidence in himself.”

This book contains vulgar words and erotic scenes. People who enjoy books that revolve around teenagers will find this novel appealing, and I recommend it to them.

The title of the book is very different and interesting. Though far ahead of my teenage, I guess the book will bring back a few memories. I wish the book goes for one more round of editing. Thank you for your insightful review! :)

While it is too bad about the errors, the storyline is intriguing. I like that it explores some of the weightier issues that teens experienced. Thanks for the great review.

Though, I'm no longer a teenager. I believe lots of teens would definitely relate to this story. And still your review was nice

A nicely put review. I would give this book a pass due to my age. I doubt if middle-aged or even older people would also enjoy it. What do you think?
Feeling upset sometimes may be unavoidable, but acting distressed is always optional.

I like that it is a book that teenagers and people who have recently finished school would be able to relate to. Great review!

Thank you for the awesome review! I've downloaded my copy! (Too bad that it contains erotic scenes!!?! Ugh! This sounds like it would be a great book for teens to read, but with those types of scenes, I definitely cannot recommend it to my students. Thanks for the heads-up!!)

Today's BOTD is a YA novel that follows the lives of multiple teens of various backgrounds through their high school years. Filled with excitement, heartbreak, conflict, and struggle, this coming-of-age story deals with social issues teens face while growing up, as they make their way into the world. Thank you!
