The Adventures of Uncle Billy & Ross by Solon Phillips, Esq. is a book written mainly to impact lives positively.

In The Adventures of Uncle Billy & Ross, Ross Miller, a 13-year-old sixth-grader, gets to spend a lot of time with his mom's elder brother, Uncle Billy, who lives in the suburbs. Uncle Billy is a 67-year-old retired widower who is full of wisdom. One day, Ross comes back from school unhappy and tells his uncle that he hates where he lives with his mother. When his uncle asks for a reason, he tells him it's because the house is dirty. This causes his uncle to tell him the story about the proverbial cat that went to London. His uncle then gives him a task that has the potential to change his perspective on his mom's place.

The book is full of life lessons, which were taught excitingly and intriguingly. The author presented his lessons realistically, taking advantage of the relationship a doting uncle would typically have with his nephew. He reproduced this relationship amazingly in his story, causing the relationship between Ross and Uncle Billy to be highly relatable. This was what I loved most about the story.

The story featured life lessons, which included lessons on the power of thought, choosing friends, the importance of reputation, attitude, etc. It was written in such a way that each chapter had a peculiar lesson to teach. All the lessons were taught using the day-to-day occurrences in a teenager's life. As I read the book, I couldn't help thinking of home and my 16-year-old brother. He could use this book.

I loved the author's writing style. The dialogues were very informal and unforced; the relationship between the two main characters was natural. As I read the book, I could practically imagine the conversations taking place. The lessons captured my attention and didn't let go till the end of the story. As a result, I had a swell time reading the book.

However, I found many errors, which led me to believe that the book hadn't undergone professional editing. This was the only thing I disliked about the book. For such a short and straightforward story, I didn't expect to encounter so many errors.

Finally, I learned a whole lot from this book to the extent that I would have loved to rate it four stars. However, due to the many errors I encountered, I'd rate it 3 out of 4 stars. I'd readily recommend this book to lovers of motivational books, young adult fiction, and Christian stories.
