Review of The Jamie Trilogy
The Jamie Trilogy: A modern three-volume novel by Garett Jones follows the lives of Reg and Jamie. The pair are engaged in a same-sex relationship. Outside of their relationship with each other, they both have life partners of the opposite sex.
In the first volume, readers are introduced to fifty-year-old Reg and ten-year-old Jamie. We learn about how the pair met, how their relationship came about, and its progression. A couple of decades later, Reg visits Jamie, who now has a female life partner called Steph. The relationship between Reg and Jamie intrigued Steph, and she began to probe. To her surprise, Reg and Jamie willingly shared their story. In the second volume, Reg and Jamie migrate to a revolutionary new community in South India called Anandam. This community was accommodating and encouraged romantic and sexual relationships between males. In the third volume, Steph joins Reg and Jamie in Anandam. The trio assimilated well into the area, and they were actively involved in most community projects.
The novel has several characters, but they were not confusing as they were introduced gradually. These characters contributed positively towards the development and progress of the different storylines in each volume. The author provides background stories of the three main characters, and I liked this as it helped me understand the reasoning behind some of their decisions.
Distinguishing between the three volumes was easy, as the book has a logical format. The volumes are concise and cover events that took place over almost four decades.
There are several aspects that I did not like about the book, and they all revolve around overly descriptive sexual scenes. The novel promotes consensual and safe sexual relations between young boys and males of any age. For me, a fifty-year-old male engaging in sexual relations with a pre-teen is a child molester, and I cannot explain it in any other way. I encourage readers to select this book, read it, and form their own opinions.
Those intending to read this book must note that it contains explicit sexual content. It covers themes such as child molestation, rape, and pedophilia.
The book can benefit from another round of editing, as it contains typos, punctuation, and grammar errors.
Considering the aspects I liked, the insight provided by the novel, and the errors, I rate the book 3 out of 4 stars.
The book is suitable for mature readers over the age of eighteen years. It will appeal to individuals interested in same-sex relationships and those who wish to learn more about the dynamic relationships between individuals who identify as gay and bisexual.

Thanks for taking the time to read the review Kaushiki!Kaushiki Parihar wrote: ↑18 Sep 2021, 01:04 I would also consider a fifty-year-old male having sexual relationship with a pre-teen child, a child molestation. This book is not of my interest, but thanks for the amazing review.

I appreciate your honesty. I also tried to view it from different angles but struggled to justify it.

Trust me, you're not being conservative this time around. Somethings are just uncomfortable for some of us and that's just how we feel. Thanks for reading the review!Priya_Singh wrote: ↑18 Sep 2021, 09:09 Well not to be too conservative but intially I mistook fifty as fifteen and read it again just to be sure. The age gap is too much; also, involving in physical relationship with a pre-teen is kind of uncomfortable for me. Thank you for your unbiased review.

I totally get you. Thanks for taking the time to read the reviewUnosthetic wrote: ↑19 Sep 2021, 18:57 I'm not into this type of book, especially when you mentioned the relationship between the 10-year-old and the 50-year-old. Great review!
