Danger might be coming to you, but you experience it if you go snooping around trying to get involved in a murder case. Me Inside by Martha Miller is a fiction book that captures the life of a teenage girl who tried to solve a murder case. Sylvia Jean's life had taken a new spin after her mother left her and her father. Her father, who returned from prison, was murdered, and she wanted to find out who had murdered the only man that had truly loved her. She intends to embark on this mission with the help of her best friend, Ruthie. Life wasn’t a bed of roses for her, as she tried to work on other sides of her life alongside acting as a detective with Ruthie. Will she succeed in her mission?

There are many positive aspects to this book, and I will gladly point them out. I fell in love with the author’s writing style and the suspense in this book. At each turn and every lead Jean and Ruthie got, I felt they were closer to cracking the case and finding those who were involved in the murder of Walter Baker.

The author did well in unfolding the story till the very end. Also, the author's expressions through her characters and her use of the figures of speech to add beauty to her writing style were areas that caught my heart mostly. An example was when Jean thought her mother's love for her father must have been empty as her bedroom was the day they realized she was gone.

A character I could relate with was Jean because of her resilient nature. She strives to get what she wants. Her losses have made her selfish, which prompted reactions whenever she felt she would lose Ruthie to Legs. I liked Ruthie too. She's unarguably a better detective than Jean. She seems to observe more that goes behind the scenes.

Furthermore, I liked how the story took a different twist than I had expected. It was nice to get caught off guard by the book. And I think it was awesome not to be able to predict the end of a book.

There was nothing I disliked about the book. It was excellent and exceptionally edited, and I couldn’t find any errors. Consequently, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to those in the LGBTQ+ community, mystery, suspense, and adventure lovers. Younger readers can avoid this book due to its adult content.

Poor Sylvia Jean! First, her mother leaves, and then her father is murdered. That's a lot for a teenager to endure. I think this is a book I would enjoy. Thanks for your wonderful review!

I don't mind reading a novel featuring two teen detectives. It must have been hard for Sylvia to be deserted by her mother though. Great review.

It was fortunate that Jean's friend had admirable detective skills to help her in her quest for justice. This sounds like an engaging read. Thank you for your review and recommendation!

Murder mysteries are my weakness. And here the protagonist is an amateur who has a personal reason to get involved. I wonder how it will be to read the book when I'm so used to reading Agatha Christie's. But I've a feeling I'll enjoy the stumbling and uncertainties. I would love to check it out. Thanks for the great review.
