Review: "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen--Spoilers

Post by ginamc87 »

Water for Elephants offers a heart-warming story of an older Jacob Jankowski reflecting back on a life during one of this country's most well-known eras, during which he lost everything and found his destiny and the love of his life as a veterinarian for Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show On Earth. But Jacob soon finds himself in a battle with his morals, forcing him to choose between staying on the good side of schizophrenic owner August Rosenbluth and protecting those who would otherwise face his wrath.

I'd highly recommend this story, especially for parents and teachers of high school students trying to encourage their blossoming young adult to read more classic literature. It's a story that's sure to have them enthralled with its raw emotion and the harsh realities individuals faced during the Great Depression. They won't be able to put it down. I couldn't.
