The Selection, by Kiera Cass

Post by Mad4Books »

I absolutely loved reading The Selection! The Selection had everything in it to make a wonderful book. There was the compassion, that made the book come alive, the humor, which was found in the worst and best situations, the suspense, which keeps you reading until you've read every page, word, and sentence in the entire book, and then there's the romance, no one could forget that. All these come together to make a fantastic book that I could not put down. Even when I finally have to stop reading, even though I didn't want to stop, thoughts of The Selection still wander around in my head. This book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time as I read words that made a compassionate, entertaining, suspenseful, and romantic first book in the trilogy, The Selection.

I've read the entire trilogy and was overall pleased with the story, but the author's writing was pretty horrible. In the first two books, she had an attempt at a formal tone half of the time and a painfully childish tone the other half. Kiera Cass had a great plot idea, but awkward writing skills. That being said, the third book shocked me. Her writing improved 100 percent. The ending was so captivating and fast paced, I couldn't put the book down. The first two books barely kept me interested in the trilogy, and the last book made me so thankful I hung around.

I strongly agree that the third book was extremely captivating. Like you said, I could not put it down. I read the whole thing in one day, measuring a total of about 4 hours and 20 minutes of solid reading time. I third book was beautifully written. Although I do agree the third book was the very best, I don't think Kiera Cass was a horrible writer though. I thought she was a fairly well writer. She could've made some tweeks that would boost the story, but I believe that all three books were just great! My favorite was The One,then The Selection, and lastly The Elite. Kiera cass had a great plot choice, and even though she may have not been perfect, she got the point across and I'm believe she did a decent job in doing so.
