The Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce

Post by J Curing09 »

I wanted to open a discussion on this series. This series has 4 books in it. I first found it when I was a child at the library. I only read the first book then, but it stuck with me. I looked it up again years ago and bought the entire series. I absolutely love it. It is full of magic and knights. The main character is a little girl and as she grows up the reader sees multiple struggles and obstacles that she faces to achieve her goals, which aren't typical of girls at that time. It was a great book to get lost in full of adventures.

So I wanted to know has anyone else had the pleasure of reading it? If so, what were your thoughts?

Ok so I am gathering that nobody has read this series. So I wanted to see if anyone has added it to their list of books they would like to read?

I have read The Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce and enjoyed it enough that I have read it multiple times. I have also read most of her other books and would highly recommend all of them.

I have read every book Tamora Pierce has published and loved everyone of them. They are all so full of imagination and excitement that they appealed very much to my adventure craving younger self. However out of all of them Song of the Lioness is not her best work as it still reads a little simply and the world of Tortall has not yet gained the depth that it does in later series. I would very much recommend the Protector of the Small and the Tricksters series to anyone who even slightly liked the first.

I loved this series in middle school and still enjoy Tamora's novels to this day. The last series I read was her Beka Cooper one. Absolutely fantastic! I think it was her stories that influenced me to want to become a writer the most.

Read the whole series as a young girl. My sis had them and she recommended them to me when I ran out of things to read. Loved the series and finished it really quickly.

This is my ultimate favorite series and what got me into YA. I first read it in middle school, and now I read it at least once a year.

I love how all four go together, but if I had to pick my favorite one of the four, it would definitely be the 2nd, In the Hand of the Goddess. Alanna goes through so much growth and so many changes that I love the mature direction it starts to take from the first.

I'm surprised more people haven't read it or have much to say on it! Tortall is my favorite world from Tamora Pierce.

I absolutely love all of the books I've read by Tamora Pierce! I gush over these books to anyone even remotely interested in YA fantasy. The world of Tortall is so engaging. Oddly enough the first books I read were the tricksters, then I had to look up her bibliography. What a treasure trove I found!
