One Man Guy by Michael Barakiva

Post by verymuchmeg »

I entered an ARC giveaway contest for this book though Shelf Awareness and was lucky enough to score a copy right around the time that whole "we need diverse books" campaign was going around Twitter. I found it kind of frustrating that people were tweeting about books like this one not existing even though it was about to be released, and I really hope everyone who was going around the internet complaining about the lack of such books bothered to purchase and read a copy because it was truly a delight! This book deals with a teenage boy realizing he is gay and coming out, but wait: he is also Armenian, so the book deals with the intersection of those two demographics, as well as educating the reader about Armenian culture in an enjoyable and informative way (like, for example, including delicious recipes so you can make some of the mouth-watering Armenian dishes the author describes in the book).
