Icon Twilight Series-Stephanie Meyer

Post by cbmatte07 »

This trilogy falls under Young-Adult Vampire-Romance but is equally enjoyed by adults I'm sure. Especially after viewing the adaptation to film which was well transitioned and promoted.
I think it captures all audiences of interest because it can be a more modern realistic perspective of the vampire/werewolf.
It's always great when an author can take something so classic and repetitive and create a new perspective that recaptures the historic folklore in a less traditional aspect. And I think Stephanie Meyer does that with a more modern approach to this series.
You become entranced with the characters, you fall in love with both Jacob and Edward for different reasons. You relate to Bella and her struggles. You find yourself wrapped up in the turmoil and decisions the characters are forced to make.
This series indulges outside the norm too, for example how the author refers to Edward sparkling in the sunlight instead of burning to ashes, werewolf's & vampires are enemies who become allies instead of a nightmare of creatures alike. Vampires being able to live and love and go to school among humans not as creatures or monsters but as typical outcasts.
It's also a trilogy that can be quickly overlooked by the average reader and passed off as preteen romance but it is worth the read in my opinion.
What do you think? Love it or Hate it?
