Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead (Bloodlines series)

Post by dean-reader1 »

This author is amazing! I read all kinds of books but the young adult authors really can do it right. If you have not read any of her books Bloodlines is a spinoff or continuance of The Vampire Academy series. I promise you once you read one series you will want to read the other. She has an amazing way of building her characters and you become very attached.

Silver Shadows continues on from the last book and shows us what happens to Sydney as she is taken by the alchemists and Adrian as he tries to find her. Both go through a lot of emotional "downs" to find their way back to each other. The struggles that each have to deal without the other, shows their true character and each will not give up on the other.

What I loved about the book is again you root for the characters to find their way back to each other. It shows that the characters can grow away from each other, but are made stronger when together. It gives the reader the sense of what can happen if you don't give up. It also shows that friends can come from places you least expect and that sometimes you have to break the rules to do what is right.

What I didn't like was of course them not being together but if that didn't happen then how can you look forward to them fighting to get back. Where would that conflict be. I would completely recommend this book.

*Spoilers*

I loved this book, also. Richelle Mead is one of my favorite authors ever. I adore her books. Once I picked up Silver Shadows, I couldn't put it down; I finished it all in one sitting. I was completely blind-sided by the ending. I would have never guessed that Jill would have been taken. I have reason to believe the Alchemists might have taken her. After all Sydney's father told Lissa that since she was protecting Sydney, that it would be war. Also, Angeline said that she wasn't even woken up by Jill's disappearance, just like she vanished. Alchemists do have a way of doing things very discretely.

I still can't believe Adrian and Sydney GOT married. In the midst of them being B.A s they got married!!!

Speaking of Adrian, I kind of think Tatiana is a somewhat good thing. She does give some bad advice but she keeps him from going off the edge.

I LOVE Silver Shadows. It's perfect. I can hardly wait until next year for the final book in the series of Bloodlines. I agree with you Tatiana might be a good thing for Adrian. She did help him overcome certain thoughts. Also, I am very excited that Sydney and Adrian did get married. I love them both so much. :D

I just finished this book and WOW! So excited for the next one. This series has been one of my favorite ones. I was so excited to see that Adrian and Sydney got married! It was at times so down and seemed like the days for her in re-education were so long and never going to end. The witch in her blood made it that much more intriguing. I loved how the book was left as a cliff hanger for the next one, but we have to wait at least a year for the next one. Ah! Anyways, this is a very exciting series and I can't wait for the next one to come out. It is a must read!

Silver Shadows is the fifth book in the Bloodlines series so I will do my very best not to put any spoilers in here. I loved Sydney in this book, she is so strong. She has been in a dark room being tempted and she still won't let them get to her. Poor Adrian though he is going through so much in the beginning of this book. I really feel for him. ...Well I think that is all I can say without spoiling anything for people who haven't picked up the series. It is such a great book and I cannot wait for the last one.

I totally agree Sydney is so strong. I love how, as a character, she has developed more and more each book.

I loved this book and the rest of the series of Bloodlines. I have loved Sydney's character since the first book came out, but I think this one really portrays the strength that Sydney has. The Alchemists torture her and it takes a strong person to endure what they did to her and to not give in.

Totally LOVE the Bloodlines series!! Of course, I read Vampire Academy first. I know alot of people make fun of the whole 'vampire' thing with respect to books and movies, but I would definitely say that Vampire Academy is the best series I have ever read. Seeing as Bloodlines includes a lot of the same characters, it is definitely right under Vampire Academy on my list. I seriously cannot even express my love for these books into words!

I loved this book!
It was so fast paced and a lot happened that kept me engaged!
Do any of you have any idea who took Jill??
I have a theory that more then one person was involved in the kidnapping, I think many antagonists from earlier books have teamed up thus creating "the ruby circle" my best guess as to who these villains are is this : Alicia ( fits the description of the blonde girl) and the warriors of light ( If I remember correctly when Sidney was at the WoL headquarters she discovered there was someone they were looking for and she guessed it was Jill) and who knows maybe the alchemists teamed up with them too , but yea that's my best guess

I think Richelle Mead is probably in my top 3 favorite authors! I loved the Vampire Academy series and I was so upset when it was over but luckily Mead decided to bring out another series with some of the same characters!!! Yay!!!! Sydney is such a cool character that nearly any girl could relate to! She is so strong and in charge but really she is vulnerable and self conscious deep down! Her story is so great to follow you never know what is going to happen next! Can't wait to read the final installment here in a couple months! :P

If you have read-and loved!-The Vampire Academy series, you will definitely find the same joy in reading The Bloodlines series. One of my favorite characters from VA-Sydney Sage-leads the rest of the "second string" cast through a dazzling array of misadventures and dives into a tumultuous affair with the unlikeliness of suitors, all the while trying to conform with her oppressive organization The Alchemists while at the same time is trying to pursue her own happiness and interests. Love them all but I think I even love Bloodlines Ben more than Vampire Academy. Oh the thought!

Did you watch the movie? Doesn’t it make you so mad that movies don’t really capture books that you love?

It wasn’t awful, but it definitely was forced in some areas.
