The Soul Seekers Series- Alyson Noel

Post by klastra88 »

The Soul Seeker Series; Fated, Echo, Mystic, and Horizon

I give this series a 3 out of 4 stars.

Book Summary:
Daire Santos is a normal teenager living a life that some would call glamorous. Daire’s mother is a make-up artist for celebrities and although one would think traveling all over the world and hanging out with famous people would be a great life, Daire longs for a normal life, she wants to have a home and a school and friends in one place.

Daire gets her wish when she starts to have dreams of a beautiful boy with long dark hair and kaleidoscope blue eyes and begins to see “glowing people” that no one else can see. After a very embarrassing episode in front of her celebrity boyfriend Daire’s mother sends her to her grandmother’s (father’s mother) house in the boring town of Enchantment, New Mexico. Daire has never met her grandmother but Abuela Paloma knows exactly what Daire's visions really are. Daire’s visions are calling her to fulfil her true destiny- Daire, her deceased father before her, and her grandmother Paloma come from a long line of Soul Seekers- Daire can actually navigate the worlds between the living and the dead.

As Daire sets out to harness her powers and embrace her family’s legacy she meets Dace, the boy who has been haunting her dreams. As Daire and Dace learn more about each other and Dace’s evil twin Cade they realize things in Enchantment are not as boring as they seem.

Daire, Dace, and some friends they make along the way are thrown in to the fight of their lives and they must race against time to save the world from the evil Cade Richter and his family.

Rating:
It was definitely a great YA series I gave it 3 stars simply because there are some slow parts in all 4 of the books but especially the last one. Also the love story, in my opinion takes up too much of this book and I would prefer more adventure. Though Dace and Daire are clearly meant for each other I find that love stories that are so serious for teenagers to be a little unrealistic. I think when it comes to love stories in YA novels they should be simple and sweet. In this series the two teens are too serious almost like Bella and Edward in Twilight. The end of the series ends in somewhat of a cliff hanger and I personally don’t like cliff hanger endings.

Overall, it was a great series. I was entertained and it was very different from the usual fantasy YA books I have read. I would recommend this series to people who like loves stories mixed with a little adventure and a little spirituality.
