Link, Kelly & Grant, Gavin. Steampunk: An Anthology of Fantastically Rich and Strange
Stories. Somerville, MA: Candlewick Press, 2011. Pages 420.
ISBN: 978-0-7636-4843-5.
The book is a compilation of fourteen top storyteller’s version of steam punk based sci-fi, fantasy, history, and adventure. The book contains a mix of short stories that combine technology, tinkerers, automatons, time travel pieces, romance, machines, and marvels made from dreams. The stories feature scientists and schoolgirls, fair folk and Romans, intergalactic bandits, utopian revolutionaries, and intrepid orphans, who solve crimes, escape from monstrous predicaments, consult oracles, and hover over volcanoes in steam-powered airships.
Personal Comment: I enjoy steam punk art and movies and this book lived up and exceeded my expectations for usual and creative short stories that took my imagination to new steam punk levels.
