I don't think there's a thread up for this series yet (I did a cursory check and hope I haven't missed it), which is a shame, because it's easily my favorite YA trilogy. It's set in a small English town, Sorry-in-the-Vale, and the protagonist is an intrepid reporter for her high school newspaper. Sarah Rees Brennan does an incredible job with Kami Glass in making her a character who can be strong without needing any special powers (and she actually is strong and self-reliant; rather than being rescued, she gets a weapon). The romance felt natural and believable, and the secondary characters are all very well-written. My favorite parts, though, would have to be a few minor lines that could easily have been left out. One calls out two characters who are oversexualizing a same-sex relationship between two women, and the other brings up the issue of bisexual erasure.

I actually just started reading this book. I stumbled upon it, but so far it has completely captured my attention.
