The Vanishing Girl by Laura Thalassa

Post by alexandrina23 »

Meet Amber, an independent, daring 18 year old. She has the ability to teleport but only when she falls asleep and just for 10 minutes. Her dreams will lead her to her destination. The story opens up with Amber at a tattoo parlor, trying to cover some marks which she can not recall getting in return she get big and wings tattooed on her back in order to cover them up. She lives a very secretive life because she certainly knows if people find out about her ability she will be taken and experimented with. To our surprise and hers as well she is not a big secret as she thought when she gets taken by the "government". The story unfolds from there.

My thoughts:

Writing: I thought the writing was very smooth and easy to follow along which is refreshing and makes it a quick read.

Characters: Here we have Amber the main character which I like her but found her a bit sloppy with some decisions and then we have Caden who is the typical boy next door with a body to for. I find myself like Caden as a love interest and how he got to the facility. I became fond of him and his attachment to Amber. Side character's could have been more interactive within the story.

As a read I felt like I was watching an CIA film. Though I wished the was more world building and background on the facility.

I recommend it if you like government facilities centered stories , New Adult, action and mystery. If you like the movie Jumper and CIA type films you'll like this book.

I was given this by net galley for an honest review.
