An epic retelling of the classic Beauty and the Beast. The story follows Caitrin, a young female scribe, who runs away from her abusive relatives after her father passes away. She arrives at a strange isolated town where the townsfolk tell of the the cursed chieftain and spectral beings surrounding the forest. Caitrin believes none of it and goes to the castle to find a job. She discovers that all of the rumors were true and over time she starts to find herself falling for the malformed chieftain who had been afflicted with sickness. The story is filled with suspense, action, and some romance.
