Review of Island Games
This story follows two best friends, Matthew and Ryan, who go on an adventure they did not ask to go on. They are tested when they wake up on a random, mysterious island. After they wake up, they transverse through the jungle, the prairie, the desert, and finally to the highlands. Each of the different environments is considered a quadrant. Each quadrant contains challenges the boys must complete to advance. In each challenge, they are rewarded with food, water, and a key from each quadrant. The importance of these challenges is that the boys have to work together. If they do not work together, they cannot win. After some time, they figured out they were in a game. Once they pass the cold, icy mountain, they find themselves in a dormant volcano. The keys they obtain hold significant value for their escape.
All I can say about this book is wow! This novel is different from what I have been reading, but it was such a fantastic book; I could not put it down. The details, the imagination used to create such an incredible fantasy, and the moral of the story was beyond fascinating.
There are so many positive aspects I have about this book. One of the things I enjoyed the most was the meaning behind the story. Caleb J. Boyer did a fantastic job making this book adventurous but informative, giving multiple great life lessons. For example, lessons about how you never know where life will take you next, and that is okay. This book hit home for me. It made me think about how life is unpredictable, and you should not take anything for granted.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel. This book was so good; I did not find any negative aspects. Boyer took this book to another level. He made the story so realistic and authentic, giving it a deeper meaning to life.
I rate Island Games: Mystery of the Four Quadrants a 4 out of 4. I did not find any errors, and it seems to have been professionally edited. Boyer did a great job keeping the story exciting and fun! His writing of the book made me feel like I was in a video game. It may have felt like I was playing a video game because the authors' purpose was to keep the audience captivated by creating interesting factors and changes throughout the book.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys adventure, suspense, and games. This book is suitable for all ages. I could see young teens enjoying this the most. However, as an adult, it was delightful for me! I highly recommend this book!
