Imagine finding yourself in outer space without any hope of being able to return to earth. To what extent would you go in creating a comfortable home and environment for yourself? The Adventures of Rebel Spencer by Sami Van Mathis introduces a series with an intriguing adventure into space.

Rebel has just turned 21 years. Unbeknownst to her, she would soon be in a position to realize her dream of owning a spaceship and heading off into space. After thorough preparation, Rebel and her two friends, Katherine and Kelsey, Harold, and Chief finally headed off into space. Unfortunately, instead of a smooth, blissful ride, hazards of different magnitudes began surfacing. They barely managed to land. Sadly, the spaceship had sustained tremendous damage and all hope of ever returning to earth has faded.

Although familiar with numerous stories about life in space, I found this book unique and captivating. The story was developed and narrated with impressive skill. It transports the reader into the scene of the story.

I love the development of the characters. Their conversations, age, and activities are commensurate with their age. For instance on page 176, Rebel was able to read the smirk on Katherine's face and discern that something was amiss. The sequence of events and the reactions of the characters are believable. They made the story real and engaging.

My favorite aspect of this story is the intriguing descriptions of events in space. It was neither graphic nor dull. It made the book action-packed. I particularly loved the descriptions of the butterflies, tri-scanner, cocoons, lightning storms, and many others. Many times, I got lost in the story as I wonder how the twists in the story would find a resolution.

The story also contains the theme of friendship and solidarity. It was refreshing to read about the love between Rebel and her friends. Readers can learn to be good companions by being supportive and protective of their friends. The innovative technologies described in the book also enlivened the story.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. It was exceptionally well edited. I have no dislikes about it. Although set in a familiar plot, the story contained many interesting elements. These also include the love triangle in which Rebel found herself. Overall, this book would be a splendid read for young adults who love space adventures. I eagerly look forward to reading other books in this series.

This sounds like a series that i would like to read. II am intrigued when people are forced to endure anything that is not normal. The technology aspect also interests me.

This book looks like it will be a lot of fun to read. I'm curious how they must have survived; I'll find out as I read.
