Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
My rating: 3/5 stars

Disclaimer: I received this paperback copy of the book from the author in exchange of my honest review.

To be honest, I have a hard time to convince myself to continue reading this book and luckily I did. This book is so rich in imaginative world with different landscapes throughout the places in the book.

When I first started reading the book, I have a perception that this book is meant for Middle Grade to Young Teen readers because of the writing. But as I read on, I think it could be enjoyed by some of the Young Adult readers too.

I didn't really enjoy reading the first part of the book simply because there are too many spelling, punctuation and grammatical mistakes found in the book. If this book weren't ship directly from Amazon, I would have thought this is an ARC. One star deducted from the rating because of this.

Apart from that, the first part of the book isn't explain well and the introduction to the world, characters and background of the story aren't written well. I got lost easily in the book if my mind wandered or if I didn't read the book continuously.

However, everything changed after the main character (Livi) sets out her journey into the adventure. The pace gets faster and there are more actions in almost every chapters. The plot advances smoothly throughout the chapters too.

I love how the writer shapes Livi's characters at the later part of the book. She is gifted with special ability called Luma but she is just a little girl who is as human as us. She has fear and she works hard on her training given to her after her ability is discovered. Along the journey of the adventure, she becomes braver and has more confidence in controlling her power in order to save her companions from great danger.

There are another 2 things I love in the book, i.e. the flying Ark and the Petrichor. The flying Ark reminds me of those in Final Fantasy series as I'm a great fan of the game series. And about the Petrichor, I like it because of this quote:
β€œIt's our choice," Emble snapped in retort. "And one I'm proud to make. No one is obligated to serve the Petrichor, but we live longer than anyone in Eaux or Trilinia or anywhere else in the Midlands, even. We are safe within these walls, we have been blessed with so much. So the Petrichor asks something from us in return? It's a small sacrifice, I think.”
The story ended with slight cliffhanger which is about the villain and I would love to read the sequel of the book (if any). To end this review, I'll include another quote which is related to the title of this book:
Horridor scoffed. "The people are sheep, Mavis; they will go where they're told."

"Ah, but it is the sheep you must beware, Hubert, for in herds they are mighty.”
