Island Games: Mystery of the Four Quadrants, written by Caleb J. Boyers, is an adventure-filled novel about two friends, Matthew and Ryan, who wake up confused and stranded on a strange island. Both boys cannot seem to remember anything before they woke up on the island, nor do they remember how they got there or who put them there. The boys soon discover that it is not just an ordinary island they find themselves on, but they must face constant tests and dangers to survive here. Their biggest threat is finding food and fresh water. Without these necessities, how will they survive the other dangers awaiting them? How will the memories that seem to slip into their minds about their parents help them survive?

One thing I truly enjoyed about Island Games: Mystery of the Four Quadrants is the strong friendship bond between Matthew and Ryan. The boys have been best friends since kindergarten and even though they face life-threatening challenges, they find a way to trust each other and work together. Both characters are very well-developed and relatable. The author keeps the reader engaged with the plot twists and turns throughout the novel. Boyer included a good sense of humor throughout the book. I like this as it makes the book even more enjoyable to read. Also, there were no erotic scenes or vulgar language.

There is nothing I dislike about Island Games: Mystery of the Four Quadrants. Throughout the book, the boys had to step out of their comfort zones and work together to survive. This puts out an important message for the reader; sometimes we all need to step out of our comfort zones.

I give Island Games: Mystery of the Four Quadrants a 5 out of 5 stars rating. I enjoyed reading this book very much. It was well-edited and professionally written. I found no grammatical errors while reading this book. I must commend the author for writing this fantastic novel, even at the young age of 12 years old. The storyline is well-structured and neatly organized.

The underlying theme of overcoming struggles and challenges can impact some readers that might still be transitioning into adulthood. Therefore, I can recommend Island Games: Mystery of the Four Quadrants to a younger audience, as some of these jokes and antics might be a little silly for older readers. However, anyone who enjoys a high-paced adventure will enjoy this novel
