Re: Mortal Instruments TV Show vs. Movie

When I saw the movie I thought that it was a mistake how much they deviated from the plot and then the show was announced, and I hoped they wouldn't do it again, especially when I saw the actors they choose. I still think all of them were perfect, but then the show made the same mistake and changed so many things. I still finished it and I was able to enjoy it as long as I ignored they were based on the books.

The movie was pretty horrible and I didn't like the tv show at all either. However, if I had to choose, I'd pick the TV show.

The movie starring 'Lily Collins' came as a complete disappointment when compared to the book series. Many parts of the actual story was cut out in the movie. Only the romance of Clary and Jace were shown, to an extent neglecting the parts of the relationship of Alec and Magnus. 'Malec' was voted as one of the best ships in the app 'Tumblr' for a very long time. The ignorance shown towards this ship came as a complete disappointment to all the fans.

Oh, thanks for the opportunity for asking...

I'll definitely claim that the movie is better. Unfortunately, they didn't continue producing the film in series.

I didn’t realize this became a tv show after they decided to not continue making The Mortal Instruments into a movie. I will definitely have to check this out!!

The movie definitely felt a bit off to me, especially for the whole Jace/Clary thing. I didn't quite enjoy it, and it didn't live up to my expectations of the book. I did stumble upon the tv show a while back, but the characters don't quite cut it for me... I only watched a few episodes, mind you, but there's just something about Jace and Clary that just didn't match the image I had in my head... especially Jace, unfortunately.

Now that the show has concluded and I have the ability to say that I have read the books, watched the show and watched the movie, I highly recommend the show. There are different things that I love and hate about each of them, like the intensely heavy breathing sometimes by Lily Collins in the movie, but I think the actors are pretty spot on and I am absolutely in LOVE with the way Malec is displayed in the TV show. Highly recommend if you haven't watched it already.
