This book is about a woman named Claudia who's married to James and raising her two step sons named Oscar and Noah. They are twins by the way. She is also pregnant with James and her child. James works with the marine so he seldom at home as he will be away most of the time for almost 3 months or even more depending on circumstances. He might not be there for her when she's giving birth which resulted in her hiring a nanny to take care of the boys and also herself. Claudia was very particular about her nanny, she didn't want her nanny to be a serial killer or something like that and finally decided to hire the perfect nanny, Zoe Harper. Everything was going fine at first but then Claudia felt that Zoe was hiding something, she also thinks that Zoe's smoking which she was scared that the boys will be influenced, so she told this to James and he thought she was just being paranoid as she was over protective towards the boys. Also maybe she was slighlty jeolous that the boys were getting close with Zoe. After James left to work and won't be home for the next 3 months, everything started to get bad. Claudia found some pictures of her and James important documents in Zoe's camera, one day she came back home to see Zoe in her bedroom, and also blood stain on Zoe's sweater. Also, there were news that a serial killer out there were killing pregnant women in the very worst way so Claudia's anxiety eventually turned into fear.
