Jandy Nelson has an extraordinary talent in writing. In her book, I'll Give You the Sun, I completely fell in love with it. The characters were so easily to become attached to and Jandy's writing just makes everything a little better. At times, I did get frustrated with how things were going but was very happy with how the ending came together. The relationship between Noah and Jude was heartwarming even though they fell apart after a tragic accident, and it only made me love them more. If you pick up this book, be prepared not to be able to put it down but I know I couldn't. I even went out and bought Jandy's other book, The Sky is Everywhere. :D

This book is my ultimate favorite. I hope you don't mind me posting my review here! :)

"OHMYGODS!

I cannot stop talking about this book. It's so amazingly beautiful .

At first, I was bored with it. I don't know why. I just couldn't get into it. But then I was in the 3rd chapter, and I fell in love. I fell so deeply in love, I kept thinking about the characters and the story and I just wanted to continue reading, so I did.

It's a story about Noah and Jude (twins) and their family. It has dual POV--Jude's and Noah's. At the first half of he book, nothing much really happened. They just told their own stories based on how they saw it. While reading the first half, I was trying to find out what could happen in the second half because the first half was trying to tell me that something would happen. Because duh, it's usually like that.

So then, I tried to be patient and continued reading. It was getting super interesting because of all the secrets and the lies that had been told by the twins to each other. Also, it was heart-wrenching to see them fight because you could actually feel how close they were. Their relationship was magical, but it's overshadowed by lies and envy and jealousy. It was what started their problems. They kept competing with each other. they forgot how it felt like to be one, instead of two.

What's so crazy about this book is that it was like they were being pulled by some force to meet one another. It was like they needed to be connected to solve the puzzle. Because it was like a puzzle for all of them. They felt like there was something missing; some things didn't make sense. And when the story ended, the puzzle was solved. They were all relieved and happy to know the missing information that kept haunting them for years.

I liked the writing style of the author. At first, I didn't quite get it but as I continued reading, I found it amazing! It's he writing style that I wanted. I want to write like she does. Oh, and this book contains so many mental images not suitable for very young audiences. BUT, ohgods! She writes these romantic scenes so sweet and passionate. I mean, who knew imagining taking a shower with someone could sound so sweet? It could make your heart beat fast not because of hotness but because of love. Yes, she writes like that. There are also so many scenes that I just literally dropped my tablet and closed my eyes because, oh for the love of gods, I needed a moment to take it all in because they're so adorable and heartwarming and dreamy. Even Oscar's lines made me drop my tab a few times.

I cannot stop fangirling!

One more thing that's so awesome about this is that it may be heartwarming, it could also tear your heart to a thousand pieces. Because Noah knew a lot of things Jude didn't. And when Jude found out about it all, it came crashing down to her. I felt all her emotions at that moment. Her grief, her shock, her confusion... it was all too much. And I just wanted to sit down with her and hug her and cry with her. And then you'd realize the necessity of all the information in the first half of the book and begin to see the bigger picture--the whole story. You'd see just why this and that happened, and begin to understand everything each of them did.

Lastly, I want to say that this book is one of the best books I have ever read--the plot and the writing style and everything. It may have broken your heart to a thousand pieces, but it puts it back together in a way nobody could explain. It has this feeling that even though you're heartbroken, you're happy. And it will make you fangirl over it for the res of your life. If I can really shove a book into everybody's hand and force them to read, it's this book. No doubt."

I agree, I really enjoyed this book. I wouldn't say it was the best book I ever read, but defiantly somewhere in the top 50's. I loved Noah's perspective and how he painted the world around him. I listened to the book via audio book so they changed voices from when it was Noah to Jude so I was really able to get into the mindset of each character. I loveeeeeeeeeeed the message at the end of the book. I would highly recommend this book to everyone!

I'll Give You The Sun is a realistic fiction book written incredibly well by Jandy Nelson. In this novel, the story of a brother and sister (Noah and Jude) is told, initially through Noah's point of view and then finishes with Jude's. The siblings, who originally are very close, lose their bond after the death of a family member, yet begin to find their way back to each other through art and love.
It is beautifully written and Nelson demonstrates her ability to fill a reader's mind with colorful and inspiring images. Definitely give this book a try! :)

I love this book. The award it has received was rightfully given. this is by far my favorite book I have ever read. It encompasses the true struggle of LGBTQ+ children and how difficult it is to be accepted by their families and to accept themselves. At the same time, it deals with love and loss. not in the typical fashion of a romance but instead with family. I'll Give You the Sun is a phenomenal book for Young Adult readers and is eye opening and awe-inspiring.
