I liked how the author gave a realistic portrayal of transgender people and the inner struggle they go through. Although controversial, I find the these topics to be very interesting. Thank you for the review.

This sounds like a very well written story that could help many young adults. It is hard to feel different and like no one understands what you are going through, so to be able to read a story with a character going through similar situations can be such a relief. This book could also interest those that do not identify with the LGBTQ+ community as either an eye opener or just a good story. Great review!

What a great choice for today's #BOTD! I love the variety of literature that we are introduced to as members of OBC. This is not a book I would have seeked out on my own, but learning about it here through your glowing review has helped me discover a book I would have never come into contact with, otherwise. Thank you so much; I have added this to my WTR list!

I had never been exposed to a book before based on a transgender teen, so I was very fascinated as I read the excerpt. When I realized what I was reading, I immediately became very excited.

I am curious to know how the rest of the book works out (especially what conclusions John reaches on her sexuality, and how she tells her parents about). I also think that it was really awesome to show Aureus as a Christian. So, not only will readers get a sense of a transgender teen's story but also how the author views it in relation to religion, I expect.

Overall, interesting excerpt. I thought the descriptions could have been more fleshed out and perhaps the dialogue a little more quickly paced (I found myself wanting to skip straight to the quotations, but had to stop myself and read the in between portions).

Good work!

For me, this transgender and transitioning issues are strange. Though the review was well crafted by a transgender enthusiast, I don't think I want to read the whole book. I congratulate the author on the perfect rating the book got.

Fitting in is usually one of a growing child's greatest challenges in life. Transgender issues are still very complex and controversial, and I can only imagine what it must have felt like for John Bird, having to come to terms with his differences. This approach from the author has roused my interest

I'm not a huge fan of the plain old YA fiction. I did enjoy the sample of the book, though!

I found this review as boring as the sample. I couldn’t get past the first few lines.

Of all the young adult novels I have read, this one seems unique in its context. The author deserves an applause enough to have chosen this sensitive issue.

I want to keep reading!

Having the opportunity to read the first few chapters has been amazing and I’m disappointed that I have to stop for now, but will make sure I obtain a copy to finish the story.

When I started Chapter One I was momentarily confused with the title and front cover, thinking that perhaps it had not been matched well with the story. Then John opened The Box, and I understood.

This is beautifully and sensitively written thus far and, assuming it continues in this manner, there would be potential for this to become a classic for young adults.
Congratulations Magus Tor!

This is a great review. I would really recommend this book to everyone that they may understand the pain that every transgender person has to endure.

This sounds as though it's a really good exploration on a tough subject a lot of people are ignorant about. One to recommend to trans and pre-trans friends!
