Review: A Whole New World by Liz Braswell

A Whole New World is a twist on the Disney Aladdin story, where Aladdin lost the lamp to Jafar. As stated by the title, it is supposed to bring a whole new world to the story, but fails miserably. The first quarter of the book is basically a script reading of the movie, with many scenes occurring word for word. The book moves at much too fast a pace, with an almost non existent amount of character development. Original characters are brought in but seem to be in the background, despite playing a major role in helping Aladdin. There were also many lines where a word or two would repeat, as though there were no editor at all. All in all, it seemed like a poorly written and executed fanfiction.
